  Martha Jane Rollings is the sister of Bettie Rollings. Bettie Rollins married William Sanders and had a son, William Presley Sanders. William Presley Sanders married Agnes V. Dove, the daughter of Martha Jane Rollins and Thomas Dove. William Presley Saunders and Virginia Dove were first cousins. Martha Jane Dove, age 72, was enumerated with William Presley and Agnes Saunders in the 1900 census. They were living in the Williamsburg District of Rockingham Co. Martha Jane's birthdate was given as December 1827. The census indicates that she was born in North Carolina and that she had four children, three of whom were still living. (1900 Census, Rockingham Co. North Carolina, E. D. 88, Vol. 57, Sheet 4, line 44) A Martha Jane Dove was living in the Williamsburg district in 1870. (1870 Census, Rockingham Co. North Carolina, pg. 409, line 27, 321/314). She was 42 years old. Sarah Dove, age 15, was living in the same household. Strangely, Agnes Dove, who would have been 10, is not listed in the household. A Thomas H. Dove was issued a marriage bond 10 June 1850 in Pittsylvania Co., Virginia to marry a Martha Rowland . (See, Marion Dodson Chiarito, Marriages of Pittsylvania County virginia, 1831 - 1861, p. 48). This may or may not be the Martha Jane Rollin in our line. Martha Jane Dove is not listed in the 1910 Census Index and there is no death certificate for her. Death certificates have been maintained in NC since 1913. Therefore, it appears that Martha Jane Dove died sometime between 1900 and 1913.
