Ursley Richardson married John Perkins in Goochland Co. 12 Oct. 1768. According to the Register of Goochland Co., Ursly Richardson was of Henrico Co. before her first marriage.
On 1 September 1778, John Perkins purchased for 200 lbs., 196 acres of land on Moon’s Creek in Caswell Co. from his father John Perkins Sr. The deed identifies John Perkins Jr. as being of Powhatan Co. while his father is identified as being of Caswell Co. John Sr. owned other land in Caswell Co. along Moon’s Cr, which he devised to his son Martin at his death in 1791.
It is not clear whether John and Ursley moved to Caswell Co. prior to the death of John Perkins Jr. John Perkins Jr. apparently died in Powhatan Co. before August 1780 where his estate was administered. Ursley refused to accept administration of her husband’s estate and letters of administration were granted to Richard Richardson. (Powhatan Co. Order Book 1, p. 155). It is possible that Ursley moved to Caswell Co with her family following the death of her husband.
Ursley and John had a son Pleasant Perkins and three daughters, Sally, Lucy, and Dice. Hanover County Chancery Wills and Notes, compiled by W.R. Cocke III, Columbia, VA, 1940, p. 118 -119. Sally Perkins made a will dated 18 April 1800 in Caswell Co. naming mother Usley Cannon, sister Lucy, and nephew Pleasant Perkins Coleman. Will Book C., p. 439.
Ursley (Richardson) Perkins married William Kennon 29 Oct 1783. It is unclear whether she met William Kennon in Goochland/Powhatan Co. or in Caswell Co.
Ursley’s brother John Richardson died in Hanover Co., Virginia. Before he died, John Richardson made a noncupative will on 26 July 1825, which was probated 24 Aug. 1825. He left a considerable estate including 417 acres of land, which is not subject to a noncupative will, and between 30 and 40 slaves. On 8 Dec. 1837, William Kennon of Caswell Co. certified to the court that he knew Judith Richardson, widow of John Richardson. He stated that he lived 6 to 7 miles from Judith Richardson and that she left no issue by John Richardson. John Richardson’s sole surviving heirs included seven sisters , their children and grandchildren. Judith Richardson died 12 June 1840.
