Daniel Bennett and Mary his wife of Fauquier Co., VA. in 1775 deeded away land that had been left Mary by her father, John Holtzclaw, in Culpepper Co.. The Bennetts seem to have moved to Shelby Co., KY., where Daniel Bennett is shown in 1795 with 1 tithable in the tax lists.

This indenture made this Seventeenth day of August 1775 Between JOSEPH HOLSCLAW and CATY his wife, DANIEL BENNETT and MARY his wife of county of Fauquier of one part and THOMAS WALL of the othr part. Witnesseth that for the sum of Twenty pounds current money of Virginia the said JOSEPH HOLSCLAW and CATY his Wife and DANIEL BENNETT and MARY his Wife have sold unto said THOMAS WALL his heirs forever all that parcel of land devised to said JOSEPH HOLSCLAW and MARY the Wife of DANIEL BENNETT by JOHN HOLSCLAW deced by their their father's Last Will and Testament
being two thirds of a tract of land lying in Culpepper County by Deed from the Proprietors Office bearing date the Fifth day of March 1753 containing Nine hundred and eighty seven acres of land the said Deed haveing been issued out in the names of HENRY JOSEPH AND MARY HOLSCLAW the Sons and Daughters of JOHN HOLSCLAW deced said two thirds containing Six hundred and Fifty eight acres (leaving behind untouched theother third devised to HENRY HOLSCLAW)..
