    • Chesley mentions daughter Polly Wray in his will. Will book B, pg. 248. The will is dated March 9, 1840 and was probated Nov. 1840. Other named children are John, Nathaniel, Pleasant, Anne Cardwell, Patsey Gann, and Nancy Richardson. Chesley Barnes is not in the 1840 Census, but Polly Barnes is.

      Chesley Barnes was in the militia during the Revolutionary War and survived to receive a pension under the act of 1832. His pension files give the names and birthdates of all children and name and marriage date of his wife.
