    • 1784. James Scott on tax list for St. David’s District with 188 acres on Hogan’s Creek and 1 poll. (Kendall, p. 140). This is probably an older James Scoot.

      Jan. Court 1804, James Scott purchased property from estate of Thomas Yancy. Caswell Co. Will Book E. p. 45 (Kendall, p. 91).

      Dec. Court 1808. Appraisal of negros left to children of William H. Rice and Christopher Brooks by last will and testament of Henry Williams. Division by Jethro Rice and John H. Brown made to Rebecca Rice, Henrietta Rice, Elizabeth Rice, James Scott, Samuel Watt, Christopher Brooks. Caswell Co. Will Book , p. 7 (Kendall, p. 113). William H. Rice is the father-in-law of James Scott. Henry Williams is the maternal grandfather of his wife Polly. The heirs include Polly and her siblings by William Rices’ first wife, Susannah Williams.

      4 Mar. 1803. John Graves and James Graves sold to Lot Egmond, 6 acres on south fork of Country Line Creek, being part of tract of Thomas Graves dec’d, adjacent John Kimbrough for 42.19.6. Alex Murphey, James Scott witnessed the deed. Caswell Co. Deed Book Q, p. 87-88 (Kendall, p. 300).

      28 June 1804. James Scott and Alex. Murphey witnessed deed from Thomas Kimbrough to Elisha Evans for 100 acres on Country Line creek near where Kimbrough lives. Caswell Co. Deed Book N, p. 229-230 (Kendall, p. 252).

      11 Sept. 1804. James Scott purchased 199 acres on south fork of Country Line Creek adjacent John Yancey, Whitlow, James Yancey, Taylor Payne, Robert Martin, from Malachi Holloman for $199. Wm. Wilkerson and William Kimbrow witnessed the deed. Caswell Co. Deed Book H, p. 248 (Kendall, p. 253).

      17. Jan. 1805. James Scott of Caswell Co. sold to Solomon Debow of same, for $300, 100 acres on Country Line Cr. adjacent John Yancey, Jordan Whitlow, James Yancey, Taylor Payne, Robert Martin, Daniel Gunn. Thomas Compton and Francis Rice witnessed the deed. Caswell Co. Deed Book O, p. 47-48 (Kendall, p. 258).

      29 July 1806. James Scott purchased 59 1/2 acres on Country Line Cr. adjacent lot #3 in John Kimbrough’s line from William Graves of Caswell Co. sold to James Scott for 50 pounds. Griffin Gunn and Elijah Carmon (Cannon?) witnessed the deed. Caswell Co. Deed Book Q, p. 24 – 25 (Kendall, p. 296).

      12 Sept. 1809. Benjamin Sewell of Caswell Co. and James Scott sold 59 1/2 acres on the south fork of Country Line Cr. adjacent lot #3 in John Kimbrough’s line to William Kimbrough for 5 shillings and to secure $300 due James Scott. Jacob Graves, Vincent Griffin, and Josiah Morton witnessed the deed. Caswell Co. Deed Book Q, p. 37-38 (Kendall, p. 297).

      14. Feb. 1810. James Scott witnessed deed from James Orr to Robert Orr for 79 acres on Hogan’s Creek adjacent Atkinson, Samuel Walker. Samuel Orr and James Orr were also witnesses. Caswell Co. Deed Book R, p. 302 (Kendall, p. 353).

      25 Jan. 1811. John Scott purchased 98 1/2 acres of land on Rattlesnake Creek adjacent Samuel Henderson, Solomon Graves, and Jacob Miles from Robert Smith for $246.25. Jesse Carter and Thos. Barker witnessed the deed. Caswell Co. Deed Book Q, p. 410-11 (Kendall, p. 318).

      12 Dec. 1812. Solomon Debow sold to William Lea of Leasburg, 1830 acres on Country Line Creek containing six small surveys adjacent land conveyed by Alex Murphey to Debow and Thomas Harrelson; also tracts conveyed to Debow by James Carroll, James Scott, Jacob Ahart, and William Rudd.
