Wingfield Wright was the son of John Wright and was born about 1710. He was orphaned at the age of 14 and bound to James Wilkason as an shoemake apprentice beginning 11 Mar. 1724. Lancaster Co. Court Orders 7, p. 283.
On 30 Dec. 1769, Winfield Wright, Sr. sold William Wright of Craven Co. 650 acres for 250 pds. The land was one-half of a patent to John Edwards dec’d of Northumberland Co. and joined Jack Horse Branch, Jesse Williams, John Wright, Rocky Sw., and West. Jas. Wyatt, George Dawkins, and Winfield Wright, Jr. witnessed the deed, which was recorded on Nov. Court 1770. Halifax Co. Deed Book 11, p. 216.
On 18 May 1771, Winfield Wright Senior purchased 800 acres of land on both sides of Cedar Creek from John and Elizabeth Pope for 332 pounds. Part of the land was where Arthur Fuller previously lived, which was conveyed by Fuller to Pope by deed dated 10 Dec. 1761. The other part was granted to John Pope by Thomas Child by deed dated 16 May, 1761. Benjamin Wright and Joseph Wade witnessed the deed. Granville Co. Deed Book I, p. 397.
On 30 Sept. 1771, Winfield Wright Sr purchased part of a tract of land on the south side of Peter Cawley’s Branch from William Hendley for 40 shillings. William Hendley purchased the land from John Pope. Elizabeth Wright, Samual Pittman and Benjamin Wright witnessed the deed, which was proved in the May 1776 Court by the oath of Benjamin Wright. . . . I lent to my well beloved wife Hannah WRIGHT the manner Plantation whereon she now lives all the Land which lies on that side of the Creek to which the House now stands on to Henley's Branch, also I lend her two Negros Blender & Daniel enduring her natural life or widowhood,
Also I give to my well beloved daughter Susannah WRIGHT the hole parcel of land after Wife's Decease or widowhood, also Two Negros Lucy & London also one Feather bed & Firnature also two Cows Calves
Also I give to my well beloved daughter Mary Pridom WRIGHT 265 acres of land on the head of the Beaver Dams in Granville Co. also I give to her one Negro wench named Ginny & one feather bed & firnature & one Chist and one Iron pot also Two Cows & Calves four head of sheep & the Mare that he had of Tharranton & her colt.Also I give and bequeath to my eldest son Wingfield WRIGHT five Shillings Sterling to his Estate & his heirs
Also I give and bequeath to my beloved son Thomas WRIGHT five Shillings Sterling

Also I give and bequeath to my beloved son Benjamin WRIGHT one Negro Fellow the name of Dick, also I lend to him one Negro girl the name of Silvah enduring his natural life then to be Equally divided she & her increase betwixt his two Eldest Son Winfield WRIGHT & Johnman WRIGHT
Also I give & bequeath to my beloved Son in law Benjamin MORGAN one Negro Fellow the name of Sam & one Negro Girl the name of Dinah
Also I give & bequeath to my Eldest Son, Winfield WRIGHT one Negro Girl the name of Vilet
Also I lend to my well beloved wife Hannah WRIGHT the rest enduring her natural life & widowhood then to belong to my daughter Susannah WRIGHT.Also I give & bequeath to my beloved Son in Law Arnal Man Two Negroes the name of Winny and her daughter Judah
I also Constitute & appoint Hannah WRIGHT and Arnal Man to be Executrix & Executor of this my last will and Testament, Dissannulling all former will or wills heretofore made.
