  	THE DANVILLE REGISTER, Danville, Va., Tue., Feb. 22, 1910, p. 2, col.2 [edited]. Mr. C. Dots Bennett, a Confederate veteran and for many years a widely known resident of this county, died yesterday at the home of his son-in-law, Mr. Charles L. Wilson, on North Main street, after a long illness. Death was due to kidney trouble. Mr. Bennett was sixty-eight years of age and a member of Company A, Thirty-eighth Virginia volunteers, under command of Capt. Daniel Townes, and was severely wounded between the eyes at the battle of Gettysburg. He was the commander of the Confederate Veterans Camp, of Ringgold, Va.. Mr. Bennett enjoyed the esteem and confidence of a large circle of friends. He leaves a widow, Mrs. Sallie Bennett, and the following children: Messrs. William, Penny, Sam and Thomas Bennett, Mrs. Nannie B. Weston, all of this county, and three sisters, Mrs. Hayes, Mrs. Slayton and Mrs. Tex, of this county. The funeral services will be conducted at Ringgold this (Tuesday) afternoon. Interment will be made in the family burying grounds.
