    • A story appearing in the Danville Bee states that Mr. A.C. Saul struck Gordon Lewis in the head and crushed his skull causing instant death. Gordon Slayton's death certificate slao states that he was struck with a piece of iron and ruled the death a homicide. Mr. Saul claimed that he acted in self-defense. Ruth Hill was with Mr. Saul at the time of the incident and was expected to testify.
