Notes - Elizabeth Ratliff married first to James W, Bennett. A Petition for Dower filed by Elizabeth in the November Court 1867 states that James W. Bennett died in August 1867. At the time of the census on 1870, she was living with her father Pendleton Ratliff. Joseph Richardson was also living in the Pendleton Ratliff household and was identified as a farm laborer. Elizabeth Ratliff Bennett married Joseph Richardson in about 1878. Joseph Richardson and his wife Lizzie are listed in the 1900 census in Rockingham County, North Carolina. Elizabeth's son, James W. Bennett is living in the same household. Other members of the household include 17 year old Anne K. Foster (who is identified as a niece of Joseph Richardson), and 8 year old Mable E. Bennett (who is identified as a granddaughter of Joseph Richardson). Mable E. Bennett appears to be the daughter of James William Bennett, one of the sons of Elizabeth Ratliff and James W. Bennnett. The relationship between Ann K. Foster and Joseph Richardson has not been verified.
