- A TENANT FARMER AGREEMENT
Sharecropper Agreement
January 2nd, 1871. This agreement made between David Cannon of Greenville County, South Carolina and Pettice Prince of same place. (illegible word) that the Said Pettice Prince hath hired to the said David Cannon to work for in the capacity of labourer on his plantation is to work faithfully and to the best of his skill and ability to perform Saidlabour on the Said plantation in planting cultivating and harvesting the crop to be raised there on as may be fairly and reasonable Required of him by the said David Cannon that is to pay for the term of twelve months commencing on the 2nd January 1871 the said David Cannon on his part is to pay the said Pettice Prince Six bushels and half of corn per month for the term of Twelve months commencing January the 2nd 1871, the term will expire January the 2nd 1872 the said Pettice is tobe payed out of the crop next November up to that time the balance ateach of the times mentioned we here unto set our hand and Seal, if any time is lost it is to be taken out of his wages.
