  	Pittsylvania co VA WB2 Aware of the uncertainty of life I John Bennett of Pittsylvania County and State of Virginia do hereby make this my last will and testament.... Item-I appoint my son John R. Bennett and my friend Richard M. Kirby my executors... Item-I wish all my other property kept together during the lifetime of my wife for her use and benefit and that of my daughters, Mary, Lucy and Martha Bennett and my granddaughter Elizabeth Verser... Item-I give to my daughter Sally Ferguson one hundred dollars Item-I wish the residue of my estate be divided into eight equal parts of which I hereby give and bequeath one part each to my sons John R. Bennett and Benjamin T. Bennett to my daughters Mary, Lucy and Martha Bennett and Ann Garner to my granddaughter Elizabeth Verser, and the part of my son Rice Bennett to his children to them and their heirs forever... Item- My not given an equal portion to the children of my son William is merely because I have already given him more than I can give any of the others. 15 May 1855, signed John Bennett Witness: Wm.
