Note - There are two William Herrons in Swain County who are the correct age to be the son of Alfred Herron. Both appear in the 1930 census of Swain County, NC. One is listed in ED 87-4 on Sheet 13-A in the household of Sherman Watkins. His relationship is identified as "Uncle." Also in the household is John Herron who is identified as "father-in-law." John is the father of Ellen Watkins, therefore, John and William are brothers. This census shows that both were born in SC. It appears that these brothers are the children of Alfred Herron.
The other William listed in the census has a wife named Emily, presumably Emily Gibson. This William is of unknown relationship to the other Herrons of Swain County.
