  The 1859 register of death in Pittsylvania County, Virginia identifies Martha Jenning's mother as J. G. Brightwell. In the 1840 census of Pittsylvania County, page 142 we find Jane G. Brightwell listed on the same page as Meredith Jennings. Since Martha Brightwell married a son of Meredith Jennings, I conclude that Jane G. Brightwell is the mother of Martha. [1, 2]
