  Dorothy was married twice before her marriage to William Bennett. She married first Christopher Thomas and second William Rush. (WC OB 1675-89,p. 516) William Bennett and Dorothy Rush petitioned the court on 27 May 1702 to enforce Dorothy’s right of dower in 100 acres of land owned by her late husband William Rush. William Rush apparently granted the land to his son without the consent of Dorothy. The court ordered that the land be divided and that Dorothy nad William Benentt be possessed of one third part. (WC OB 1701-1703, p. 159a).
